Volunteering at St. Katharine Drexel School

Thank you for you interest in volunteering at St. Katharine Drexel School. Before you volunteer, you will need to complete Safe Environment Training. To do so, please visit the St. Cloud Diocese web site at http://www.stclouddiocese.org/safe-environment.html. You will need to view a brief video and return the signed Safe Environment Form to the school office.

Here are some of the volunteer opportunities currently available:

Volunteer Opportunity	Details
Lunchroom Assistant or Lunchroom Supervisor	Lunchroom Assistants are needed from 10:45-12:15 each school day (parents may choose to split shifts with another volunteer). The responsibilites of the lunchroom assistant include serving food to students in the lunchline or supervising and dismissing students from the cafeteria. Playground Supervisors	Playground Supervisors are needed each school day from 11:10-12:40 (parents may choose to split shifts with another volunteer.) Volunteers report to the lead volunteer on the shift upon arrival and will be assigned a post. The Playground Supervisor is expected to do their best to keep children safe on the playground and ensure that children respect themselves and others on the playground. Teacher/Classroom Support	Hours will be determined by your child's classroom teacher. Some of the responsibilities of a classroom support volunteer include: Reading with students Laminating Copying or other clerical work Assisting with special projects such as computer aide, helping with art projects, chaperoning on field trips, guest speaker, etc.
Media Center Volunteer	Contact the St. Katharine Drexel Media Specialist, Ruth Steffes, for volunteer times and details. Duties typically include helping students in the Media Center and performing Library duties such as shelving books and checking books in/out.
PAA Coach or Assistant Coach	Our Parochial Athletic Association (PAA) is an athletic program for 5th and 6th graders that allows students to participate in team sports and compete against fellow parochial schools in the diocese. We rely on volunteers to serve as Coaches and Assistant Coaches for our PAA teams. Our PAA program offers the following sports: Fall - Boys' Football, Girls' Vollyeball, Co-Ed Soccer. Winter - Boys' Basketball and Girls' Basketball. Spring - Boys' Baseball and Girls' Softball. School Maintenance Volunteer	Contact the school office at (320) 251-2376 if you have a special skill (carpentry, landscaping, etc.) or are interested in helping out with occasional maintenance projects.
Guardian Angel Program	This program welcomes new families to St. Katharine Drexel School and provides a "guardian angel" family to help them in their transition to our school.
Home and School Committee Member	This group, similar to a Parent/Teacher Association, plans social events including the Back to School Pizza Party, staff dinners and brunch, Portfolio and Pasta Night.
Planning Committee Members	St. Katharine Drexel School relies on the expertise, creativity, and efforts of volunteers to help make our fundraisers and other school programs a success. The volunteers on these committees are VITAL to St. Katharine Drexel School.
