FAQs

This is an exciting time for your child and your family! We're excited that you're looking at St. Katharine Drexel, and we are more than happy to answer any questions you might have about your child's education.

  • Does our family have to be Catholic to attend St. Katharine Drexel?

No! We welcome families from any faith background. And don’t worry, we will always respect your child’s faith, and they will never be singled-out or made to feel different. Coexisting in a diverse world with people of different faiths, backgrounds, and schools-of-thought is a value we nurture in our students.

  • What is your average class size?

Our average class size is 15 students per classroom. We currently have two sections of every grade.

  • Is busing available for SKD students?

Busing is provided for students who live within our district boundaries for both St. Cloud and Sauk Rapids-Rice public schools.

  • Do you have special services for students who need extra help?

Yes! Students can receive Title 1 and special education services through the St. Cloud public schools.

We have a mental health practitioner and a movemindfully coach who work with students who need or want mental health support.

We have two Barton tutors on campus that can meet one-on-one with students who have dyslexia during the school day. To inquire about services, please reach out to our principal.

  • My child is dyslexic. How can you help him or her be successful?

Over 25% of our student body is dyslexic. Our staff is trained to watch for warning signs of dyslexia and dysgraphia and also offer accommodations to help all students feel successful.

  • Does SKD have before or after school care programs?

We have three fundraisers per year! In the Fall, our Saints In Service workathon takes place where we rake leaves for those who need extra help. During Lent, we host a Fish Fry and in the Spring we offer Mayfest (like a school block party!)

All families are encouraged to participate in all events by volunteering and raising funds.
